After first a HEAO course in Emmen and then studying business economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Johan started working in the world of international logistics. At P&O Nedlloyd (now part of Maersk), he became acquainted with the great diversity within a multinational. In various roles in finance, logistical operations and purchasing in the Netherlands and abroad, he has learned how it works to achieve goals in a complex multinational, multicultural organization. In the years that followed at LyondellBasell (chemistry) and Nutreco (animal nutrition), Johan further specialized in the field of international purchasing and supply chain.
Through all these different experiences, it has become clear to Johan that procedures, processes and data are important building blocks for every service and production organization, but that people determine the ultimate quality of the output. Over time, the emphasis moved from operational & tactical management to building teams and leading organizational changes. Through various leadership training courses, Johan has been able to further develop his own skills and can now coach others in this regard.
At a strategic level, Johan has redesigned and implemented an international supply chain model (from forecast, planning, customer service, warehousing to international logistics). In various strategic purchasing roles, he has sought cooperation with areas adjacent to purchasing such as sales, operations, supply chain, finance and logistics in order to jointly achieve the best results.
Working together in teams to achieve structural improvements is what gives Johan energy and what he does. He speaks the language of management and management and connects easily to the workplace.
