Biography

Tjibbe Jan de Vries is a fresh senior distribution specialist who looks beyond Excel. As a (project) manager of logistics, operations and supply chain, with more than 25 years of experience, he connects processes, ideas and (numerical) analysis with people. Through his open attitude, clarity and driven, calm appearance, he moves people to work together. He takes people into the process of continuous improvement in a practical way. He seeks (and finds) the transparency and simplicity of processes, where his way of working stands for results and safeguarding them.

He started in the supermarket world, via line positions at the MT level, as logistics and operations manager at multisite retail organizations. He is now self-employed in the market for interim management, project management and logistics advice. He is able to work in hectic, highly commercially oriented organizations on professionalization, logistical improvement and cost reduction. His working method as an (interim) manager is based on making clear agreements.

Topics such as Activity Based Costing, step-by-step professionalization of inventory management & warehouse processes, but also warehouse management systems (WMS) are no stranger to Tjibbe Jan. At a strategic level, he has designed and implemented a new business and distribution model, among other things. His no-nonsense retail background often comes in handy in more production-oriented food and non-food companies. From his shipper background, he likes to seek cooperation and connection with neighboring areas such as sales, purchasing and finance, with the conviction that together, much improvement can be reaped.
