Customer challenge

The starting point of the transformation was to consolidate four separate warehouses in the Benelux into one Central Distribution Center (DC). The challenges were multifaceted, ranging from moving old warehouses in a running operation to implementing a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) and advanced automation solutions.

Approach

To achieve our ambitious goals, we took a structured approach that included several critical steps. Moving old warehouses was a complex task that was carried out with care, ensuring that operational activities continued uninterrupted.

A key part of our success lay in supervising the construction, where we played a leading role in the creation of the new Central DC. This included not only the physical construction, but also the careful planning and coordination of all processes involved.

Setting up the Warehouse Management System (WMS) was a critical step in our pursuit of efficiency. We have carefully selected and implemented the most advanced WMS to ensure that our operational processes run seamlessly and we maintain control over our inventory.

In addition, we have implemented comprehensive solutions for warehouse design, including racking, mechanization, automated packing, an advanced lift system, mechanization of transport, and sustainable solutions. This comprehensive approach has contributed to an optimized and environmentally friendly working environment.

During and after the go-live, we provided facility management, temporarily taking responsibility for the facility aspects. This ensured a smooth transition period and maintained operational efficiency.

After successful implementation, the project was handed over to the operation, reaping the benefits of our efforts. This integrated approach has not only achieved our set goals, but has also laid a solid foundation for future growth and optimization.
