Biography

Bart Kraan, born in 1970, lives in Germany with his wife and two children. After studying Mechanical Engineering and Logistics Management, he started his career as a Project Manager at Dalosy. That is where his interest in the combination of warehousing, logistics and IT took shape. Bart then spent 15 years on the vendor side at supply chain software providers such as Blue Yonder/RedPrairie and Kinaxis. He subsequently moved to the customer side, where he gained 13 years of experience in logistics services and the medical devices industry, including at Geodis and Medline.

Having worked on both the vendor and the customer side, Bart knows what is technically possible and what actually works on the shop floor. He also holds an Executive MBA from Rotterdam School of Management.

Bart lives with his family and three other families in a former monastery in Germany. Since 2012 they have jointly converted it into an events venue, which has grown into a popular location for weddings, parties and public events. It is an entrepreneurial project to which Bart devotes much of his free time.

Work experience

Bart focuses on connecting IT and logistics, particularly in WMS, TMS and Control Tower projects. He translates strategic plans into practical solutions and looks beyond the technical functioning of a system. For Bart, an implementation is only successful when users embrace the solution and it delivers lasting value.

He deliberately chooses depth over speed: no quick fix where a structural approach is needed, but solutions that remain effective after go-live. This is reflected in his track record of more than 50 implementations in over 10 countries, with consistently smooth go-lives.

At UC Group, Bart works on implementations, improvement programmes, conversions and upgrades of WMS, TMS and Control Tower software. He also supports organisations with supply chain IT transformation, process optimisation and interim project management in logistics environments.

Thanks to his broad experience with business-critical supply chain software, Bart can also help organisations with a wide range of IT challenges. His knowledge of complex implementations, processes and user adoption applies equally well to the implementation of other business-critical systems.
