Bas was born and raised in Rotterdam and surroundings. The appeal of the port, shipping, logistics and international trade was inevitable and was also instilled at home. No nonsense and actions, not words, are therefore appropriate to his work ethic.
Discovering, exploring and innovating gives him energy, where delivering quality comes first. Entrepreneurship and ease of dealing with changes suit his personality. Loyalty and reliability are paramount, but certainly also patience, because improvement and success often come with small steps.
In his spare time, he enjoys sports and alternates the peace and quiet of nature with culture and fun in the city. In addition, he regularly travels to Italy with his partner to enjoy la dolce vita, or traditional food, wines (not to mention passionate preparation), history and the diverse landscape.
After various training and operational activities, he has gained a lot of experience in various international staff and management positions in Freight Forwarding.
Once started as a planner in the NVOCC department at Van Ommeren Transport and grew into versatile management positions and worked for regional and global headquarters. With extensive knowledge of operations and negotiating contracts with shipping companies, supporting the M&S and selecting the innovative TMS systems, he has been able to make important contributions to successful and successive integrations of the sea freight division within Air Express International, Danzas, DHL Global Forwarding.
